National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA says it has so far received positive response from state governments over disaster management in their domains.
The Director general who disclosed this at a closing section capacity training workshop for NEMA and SEMA staff in Abuja says it will consciously engage rural dwellers until they are aware of disasters and how to prepare ahead for it.
The National emergency management Agency was created to deal with disasters across the country.
It also provides relief materials for disaster victims in Nigeria.
In carrying out its duties, it is faced with several challenges including lack of synergy to coordinate stakeholders for adequate management of disasters.
But the narrative is gradually changing.
The Director general says the agency has so far witnessed a positive response from its stakeholders and it will continue to engage for more positive response.
This training of National Emergency Management Agency and State Emergency Management Agency staff is aimed at strengthening their capacity to respond to disaster.
Participants are challenged to apply the skills learnt to mentor those behind them and better prepared for future leadership roles in Disaster management.
The event marked the end of the workshop which started on the 12th of September, 2023.
