The popular highlife music group in the 70s “Oriental brothers international” is back in the musical industry after seventeen years.
At the launch of a new album titled “Abialam” the leader of the group Godwin Kabaka Opara expressed joy for bouncing back to the musical industry despite challenges.
Mr. Kabaka’s journey into the music industry dates back to the 70s when he founded the Oriental Brothers international with the likes of late music maestro Sir Warrior with their debut album ‘Uwa Atualamujo/Ihe Chinyere’ released in 1973.
Guests at the event noted that the music played by Oriental brothers international brought immediate healing of ethnic nationalities shortly after the Nigerian-Biafran war.
It was a moment to remember for the living legend of highlife music of a time in the South Eastern Nigeria Kabaka Opara who has returned to the music industry.
Highlife music gained more popularity in South Eastern Nigeria in the 1960s through its distinctive use of guitars, brass instruments and rhythmic patterns to paint a vivid canvas of stories, traditions and values.
