FEC Approves Funding For Training, Empowerment Of Girls

The Federal executive Council has approved additional funding for the training and empowerment of adolescent girls in the country.

Another financing was also approved for women empowerment projects and up-scaling of their skill levels and giving them financial inclusion.

According to the Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the economy, funds for these projects will be source from concessional and zero interest financing from the World Bank and the international development Association.

President BOLA Tinubu presided over the meeting that also approved the establishment of the poverty alleviation trust FUND.

The federal Executive Council approved concessional and zero interest loans worth 3.45 billion Naira to finance five projects, that includes a project for adolescent girls initiative and financing of a women project that will Empower and upscale their skill level.

The Federal executive Council ratified the protocol on the protection of the rights of older people as Nigeria joins one of the countries in Africa that prohibits all kinds of discrimination against older people and prioritises their welfare.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty alleviation got approval for another memo for a poverty alleviation trust fund.

For the solid mineral sector, there is an ongoing rejigging of the security architecture to combat the menace of illegal mining that also fuels insecurity.

The Minister of Solid mineral development got approval for a draft memo that will put in place a legal frame work for the activities in the entire sector and ensure it contributes more to the Federal purse.

The approval for additional funding to train and Empower adolescent girls in Nigeria will start from 11 States before it is escalated across the country and this will ultimately reduce the number of out of school girls in the country.
