The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the nomination of Musa Adam Aliyu for appointment as Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC .
Mr Aliyu’s appointment was confirmed by the Senate after he satisfactorily responded to questions from the Senators at Thursday’s Proceedings.
The Senate also confirmed the nomination of two others for appointment as members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission.
Their screening and confirmation followed the consideration and approval of a motion by Senate Majority Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti), at the Committee of the Whole.
The nominee for ICPC Chairman, Aliyu, who is the current Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Jigawa State, said he has embarked on far-reaching judicial reforms as the Attorney General of Jigawa State since September 2019.
Aliyu holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in law. He was also named a Senior Advocate of Nigeria-designate in October 2023.
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, who presided over plenary in his remarks after their confirmation, said their appointment was a call to service.
He urged them not to disappoint Mr. President and Nigerians while urging them to give their best to the service of the country.
