Troops of the Nigerian Army will be active in the south east region of the country as part of an ongoing military exercise to curb insecurity.
Spokesman for the Army, Major General Onyema Nwanchukwu disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja, he also said the Chief of Army Staff has ordered more deployments of troops in Benue state.
It’s nearly 2 months since the Nigerian Army commenced 3 exercises in the country.
Golden Dawn 3” for the South-East; “Still Water 3” for the coastal areas and “Enduring Peace 3” for some states in the North Central and Federal Capital Territory.
A lot has happened since the exercises began.
This News conference coincides with the presentation of the 2024 budget by President Bola Tinubu whose emphasis was on “overhauling the nation’s internal security architecture to enhance law enforcement capabilities.
A security incident report by Beacon Intel shows that there’s been a 50% increase in cases of abduction in October, compared to the previous month.
The number of fatalities also increased by 93%.
The army authorities understand that to tackle the security issues, inclusive efforts are required.
