The European union as well as the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance have formally launched the second phase of the rule of law and anti-corruption program.
The five-year program which is to be implemented across five states and at the federal level , aims to strengthen the rule of law and good governance reforms in Nigeria.
Building stronger institutions for public transparency, accountability and citizens engagement to ensure respect for the rule of law, is key to improving governance quality in a real democratic process.
This is why speakers at this launch of the second phase of the European union funded rule of law and anti-corruption program believe that highlighting the success stories of the first phase will help make this happen.
Other partners here say the first phase of the five-year Rolac program played a vital role in strengthening the rule of law and curbing corruption.
An achievement made possible by supporting reform initiatives across federal and state institutions, anti-corruption agencies, civil society organizations and the media.
The second phase targets enhancing performance, quality and oversight of the criminal justice system.
This will be attained by contributing to strengthening the rule of law and good governance reforms in Nigeria through its implementation in Adamawa, Anambra, Edo, Lagos and the FCT.
