Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has signed into law an executive bill to domesticate the extension of retirement age of teachers in the State to 65 years and service year to 40 years
Signing the document at the new executive Chambers in Government House, Governor Uzodinma said the law will serve as a morale booster to teachers in the State to give their best for the overwhelming interest of the State.
According to him, it will show better commitment and contribute towards the educational Development of the State.
He said the new law was a follow-up to a similar bill extending teachers’ retirement age to 65 years or 40 years of pensionable service in Nigeria which was signed into law by former President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2022.
The Governor added that this decision aligns with his steadfast commitment to preserving the wealth of experience and knowledge within our educational system.
