A bomb near Israel’s embassy in New Delhi Tuesday night prompted the country to issue a travel alert for its people, raising concerns that it may have been a terror assault.
Security agencies conducted a thorough investigation of the area after hearing about the explosion close to the Israeli embassy in New Delhi’s high-security diplomatic enclave. There were no injuries that were reported.
According to Delhi Police, they collected possible evidence for forensic analysis from the location and are currently conducting an inquiry.
The bomb site was only 100 meters away from the embassy.
As tensions rise between Iran-backed organizations and Israel in Lebanon and the Red Sea, the battle risks turning into a regional or global conflict.
The explosion occurred a day after an Iranian senior commander was assassinated in a claimed Israeli strike in Syria’s capital, Damascus. There has been no confirmation of a link between the two events.
Delhi Police found a letter from the spot addressed to the Israeli ambassador. “A letter has been written in English to the Israeli Embassy in which threatening words are used,” ANI news agency reported, citing police officials.
“The group whose name is written on the letter is Sir Allah Resistance.”
