An explosion, suspected to have been caused by a Nigerian army Drone, rocked a gathering of villagers observing Maulud festivities in Tudun Biri village in Kaduna.
The aftermath is grim, with several individuals feared dead and dozens affected by the blast.
Occurring near the Nigerian Air Force base in the Igabi Local Government Area, the mishap resulted in the inadvertent targeting of villagers, mistaken for bandits by the military drone according to a security source.
Initial reports suggested the involvement of a Nigerian Air Force drone, which was later contradicted by Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations for the Nigerian Air Force.
In response, the Kaduna state government and Nigerian army officials have swiftly engaged community leaders, appealing for calm amidst the grief-stricken locals.
They have taken responsibility for the injured victims, ensuring their prompt transfer to medical facilities for urgent treatment.
