About 70 per cent of Nigerians are reported to have access to a basic water service, but more than half of these water sources are contaminated.
That’s why the Lagos water corporation is recommissioning the Mosan Okunola waterworks to enable quality and easy access of water supply to the Abesan and Baruwa community.
Water may be a basic necessity of Life, but its low accessibility makes it difficult and expensive to get.
This is Abesan Community located in Iyana Paja area of Lagos state. Residents here have constantly complained of inadequate water supply and sometimes contaminated water which sends many of their loved ones to the hospitals.
But with the help of Lagos Water Corporation, that is providing about two million gallons of water per day to this area, people like Morufu and Joseph can now smile.
While unveiling and inspecting the facility, these key players say the country may just meet its SDGs target to provide clean water to all citizens by 2030.
With light performances to remind Lagos residents of its cultural heritage, they advise residents of the community to key into this initiative and support the drive for Clean Water.
