The Lagos command now has a commissioner of police.
Mr. Adegoke Fayoade who resumed duty on Thursday as the Lagos State Police Command, has pledged water-tight security and of his target area is traffic robbery.
Fayoade gave the assurance after taking over the baton of leadership from DCP Waheed Ayilara, who was in acting capacity after the promotion of the then CP Idowu Owohunwa to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
The new commissioner of police is not new to most of the command management team having served in various capacity and areas of the state.
In his speech, Fayoade said the command would work in synergy with other security agencies to secure all areas of Lagos through the air, land, and water and also check the perennial traffic in the state.
Pledging commitment to dedication and principles of justice and community safety in Lagos, he said: “Residents of Lagos should go about their normal businesses; they should enjoy Christmas and the New Year.
Human rights abuse he says will not be condoned this time as stations will be visited unannounced.
Also, he may have to make some changes in the command for better output
The new police boss noted that his vision for effective policing of Lagos will rest on some pillars, which include community engagement and crime prevention and reduction, among others.
