The management of the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State has suspended physical lectures in the school premises and students have been advised to steer clear of campus for two weeks.
As student leaders in the State commended the Police and the State Government for their swift response to the plights of the students and residents of Ode-Remo and its environs.
Normalcy has since returned to Ode Remo Community, Gateway Polytechnic Saapade, Isara and environs after the students protest over the robbery and killing of one of them identified as Makinde Oluwapelumi.
Student leaders in the State say the increasing robbery attacks in students dominated areas across the state require collaborative efforts of stakeholders and commended the Police for the swift response on the robbery and killing at Ode Remo.
On prevention of such attack in students communities, the student leaders appealed to their colleagues to remain calm as they have been engaging critical stakeholders in ensuring peaceful atmosphere in campuses and students dominated communities across the state.
Meanwhile, the management of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade has suspended physical lectures in the school premises and students have been advised to steer clear of campus for two weeks.
This was made known through a memo issued by the Acting Registrar of the institution and confirmed by the student Union President.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu has also led his team to the area in order to ensure adequate security.
