There are 774 local government areas in Nigeria and this tier of government is the cornerstone for building democracy from the grassroots level. But unfortunately the local governments have not lived up to its responsibilities with many insolvent and largely dependent on the state governments to survive.

He then inaugurated the projects named after him in a place where he started his political journey 32 years ago.
The tenure of the current local government chairmen in Delta state will come to an end in a few days time and elections will be conducted to elect new executives with some coming back for 2nd term.
