More than one hundred and ten thousand households across the federal capital territory are expected to benefit from the renewed hope conditional cash transfer program.
Under the program, beneficiaries will be enrolled on a three month cycle one off cash intervention of twenty five thousand naira
This is part of an immediate intervention by the federal government to cushion the effects of the removal of petrol subsidy and other economic hardships on families.
Since the removal of fuel subsidy in 2023, many Nigerians were faced with different kinds of hardships, especially those considered to live below the poverty line.
The federal government provided different forms of intervention through the social investment programmes targeted at providing helping poor households cushion the impact of the prevailing economic hardship.
The renewed hope cash transfer programmes is one of those interventions under the expanded national safety net system.
This is the start of the refresher training for cash transfer facilitators from all area councils in the FCT to ensure that the program reaches beneficiaries in communities and that poor and vulnerable families have access to the government’s monthly livelihood intervention funds.
The facilitators will be key in the enrolment exercise of beneficiaries for accurate data collection.
More than 20,000 beneficiaries are expected to be captured across each area council of the FCT through the program starting later this month.
