Passengers at Ebutte meta train station have accused some officials of the Nigeria railway corporation (NRC) of alleged ticket racketeering on the free train provided by federal government.
TVC News’ Correspondent Ademola Lawrence who was at the Yaba train station says today, Thursday, Dec 4. 2024 was supposed to be the last day for the free train ride provided by the federal government which started on the 21st of December 2023, however, the free train service has now been extended to Sunday, December 7, 2024.
But most train passengers were unable to book their tickets online as they said most of the tickets were already booked.
While at the train station, one of the ticket racketeers was arrested by the security personnel , while passengers also expressed their displeasure.
After showing their online ticket, some passengers were inspected to board the train.
However, things became rowdy when some passengers claimed that no one attended to them and accused ticket racketeering.
Even when several persons attempted to mediate between the train officials and the passengers, an NRC employee attempted to destroy TVC News’s camera for filming.
