Supporters of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara have promised to stand with him till the end of his current political travails.
They gathered for a show of solidarity in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to reaffirm their intention to protect the Governor’s mandate.
In the last two months, public events like this have been organized to
prove which of the two political camps has the larger support base.
They are an opportunity to identify which side some stakeholders have taken in the power tussle.
The Governor’s people believe that they are in the majority and are
sending message that their resolve to support him remains firm.
These groups intend to continue public outings like this believing that failure to do so could be seen as a sign of defeat.
They promised to stand with the Governor in whatever action, he takes in implementing parts of the brokered peace deal, such as the presentation of the 2024 budget before the House of Assembly and the reappointment of commissioners who resigned.
Despite the political situation, the people called on Governor
Siminalayi Fubura to remain focused on infrastructure development such as school renovation and road expansion projects in the area.
