Police in Ecuador have arrested individuals involved in the attack on a Television studio in Guayaquil, where journalists were threatened during a live broadcast.
The Ecuadorian Police announced the apprehension of the suspects in a statement released late on Tuesday.
Ecuador’s Police wrote in Spanish, “As a result of the intervention at #tctelevision #GYE, our police units have so far managed to apprehend several individuals and evidence linked to the crime. Further details will follow.”
Ecuador announced a state of emergency after a drug lord escaped from a maximum-security jail and unrest erupted in several of the country’s prisons.
As the manhunt for mobster Jose Adolfo Macias, alias “Fito,” President Daniel Noboa announced a 60-day mobilization of soldiers in the streets and jails, as well as a daily curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
