The Nigerian Senate has invited the Minister of FCT and the commissioner of Police for the FCT Police Command to give detailed Security briefings in a closed session on the current security situation in the federal Capital .
The upper Legislative Chamber has also urged the inspector General of Police to ensure the installation of CCTV Cameras and increase security patrols and surveillance within the FCT and the entire Nation .
The Senate’s resolution is sequel to a motion by the lawmaker representing Delta North Senatorial District , Senator Ned Nwoko on the Galadimawa Kidnap incident that led to the death of one of his Senior legislative Aide .
Senator Ned Nwoko briefed his colleagues on the tragic abduction of 19 persons including his senior legislative Aide who was later killed by his abductors
The lawmaker recalls with sadness that the distressing news has become one Tragic loss too many as he calls for more drastic measures to beef up security within the FCT .
The Senate sympathised with the lawmaker over the death of his senior aide and adopted all resolutions made in the motion .
The senate also resolved to invite the minister of the FCT Minister and the Commissioner for the FCT Police Command for a closed session to obtain detailed report of efforts being made to tackle rising insecurity within the FCT .
The Senate observed a minute of silence in honour of victims of bandit attacks and insecurity .
