Nigeria finished second best at the 13th African Games. Team Nigeria won 121 medals, including 47 gold, 34 silver, and 40 bronze.
The squad’s success at the African Games was due to the formation of a Ministerial podium performance team.
Addressing reporters on his appraisal of Nigeria’s performance in the African sports competition, Minister of Sports Development Senator John Enoh announced that preparations for the next African events will begin immediately with a review of the recently concluded events.

Building on the success recorded in Ghana, the minister reiterated the present administration’s determination to introduce policies that will transform sports business in the country.
