Katsina state Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda has flagged off two major road dualisation project in the heart of the state Capital to improve on the road infrastructure of the ancient city.
The two projects are part of the multiple roads projects to be executed by the present government of the state to ensure the capital meet up its infrastructural needs.
Increased competition for space due to Population explosion and other factors such as climate change have continued to drive government to look inward in planning cities to accommodate people.
In the last 15 years, Katsina has continued to witness urban migration and increased population from five million to over nine million without any major improvement on existing infrastructure.
The state government this time around is determined to revisit the states master plan to ensure growth and development in the state capital .The state commissioner of works explained that the new project when completed will decongest the main road leading to the Emir’s palace from the inner part of the metropolis.
The road design will also include provision of solar street lights and a comprehensive drainage system.
The contractor handling the project assured residents of the state of speedy and timely completion.
Katsina emirate was also not left out and they promised to support the government .
