Katsina state Government has completed arrangements to commence sales of grains at a subsidised rate of 20 thousand naira per bag.
Already the state has purchased grains worth 10 billion naira, ready for distribution as part of measures to ensure food security.

The hardship faced by residents of Katsina are part of a growing national concern over the effects of economic reforms introduced by the federal government.
Cost of commodities such as maize millet and Guinea corn have risen beyond 70 percent due to inflation and insecurity.
Most recently, the government inaugurated a task force committee to promote food security and to check excesses of grain merchants who hoards hundreds of Tonnes to create artificial scarcity.
Again Governor Dikko Radda is setting up another committee to reach out to 2.1 Million Vulnerable Residents with Free Food, and Cash throughout the Ramadan.
The Governor explains that, the initiative will feed an estimated number of 72,200 people each day of the Ramadan.
While for buyers, the government has subsidized the price of grain to 20,000 per bag, but an individual can only buy ten measures at a time.
Governor Radda emphasized the importance of accountability in the distribution process, directing local government committees to remit proceeds from grain sales to the state committee for deposit into government accounts.
The chairman of the grains distribution committee Mallam Khalil Musa Kofar Bai and Other members reassured residents of the state that they are commitment to give the best in their assigned task.
