The Nigerian Senate has condemned the gruesome murder of 17 Soldiers in Okuama Community in Delta State.
This is as the upper legislative chamber directed relevant Committees of the Senate to liaise with the Nigerian Army to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter .
The attack on troops of 181 Amphibious Battalion on a Peace Mission to Okuoma Community in Delta State has raised serious Concerns among lawmakers.
The lawmakers acknowledge the gravity of the unfortunate incident especially on the National Peace and Security of the nation .
They appeal for calm and resolved to join in the investigation to determine the root cause of the incident as well as ensure that the culprits face the full wrath of the law and lasting peace returns to the region.
The Senate Urged the Federal Government and the Armed forces to Immediately compensate the families of the deceased soldiers while investigation is ongoing .
The Senate also observed a minute of silence in honour of the slain Soldiers.
