The Kaduna State Government has signed a partnership agreement with an India Agric Firm to concession a warehousing project to the tune of over $ 122 million for a five year period .
The partnership which was sealed by the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Abuja by the Kaduna State Government and the management of StarAgri West Africa , seeks to refurbish state owned warehouses, silos , hubs and export centers into Electronic warehousing receipt system .
As part of efforts to ensure food security and boost Agricultural Productivity , Kaduna state is partnering with an Indian firm to establish what might be the largest and first ever Electronic warehousing Receipt system in Nigeria .
This Initiative that seeks to refurbish and modernize warehouses across Kaduna State , will support small holder farmers to minimize post harvest losses and also increase their access to financing from commercial Banks .
Star Agric says it is committed to investing over 122 million dollars within a five year period for the implementation of the project and seeks to extend the initiative to other states in Nigeria .
The Kaduna State Government says this partnership signifies a shared vision for the transformative change in the agricultural landscape and promising growth and development for all involved .
The initiative when implemented hopes to support over one million Farmers and also generate over 2500 direct and indirect employment opportunities across the agricultural value chain.
