In a step towards promoting peace and security in West Africa, the Nigerian Army has deployed 177 personnel for a peacekeeping mission in Guinea-Bissau.
The Chief of Operations, Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Boniface Sinjen, announced their deployment at a graduation ceremony for troops of Nigerian Company 3 held at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.
Authorities say the mission underscores Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to regional stability amidst Guinea-Bissau’s ongoing political and institutional crises.
The troops have undergone rigorous pre-deployment training, ensuring they are well-prepared to support the government of Guinea-Bissau in stabilizing the country.
They have been charged on the importance of professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights.
