The Police in Ekiti State have charged three men before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly possessing explosive materials.
The accused – Adamu Abdullahi (46), Haruna Musa (57), and Sanni Garba (26) – face a single count of unlawful possession of explosives.
Prosecutor Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi informed the court on Friday that the defendants were found with three 32mm cartridges, detonating cord, and firing cables on June 5 in Ado Ekiti.
This act, Oriyomi stated, contravenes Section 1(c) and is punishable under Section 1(e) of the Explosive Act 1964 and Explosive Regulation 1967.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge. Their counsel, Mr. Ademola Richard, requested bail, which Chief Magistrate Olarewaju Owoleso granted at N500,000 each with one surety.
The prosecutor sought an adjournment to prepare the case and assemble witnesses. Consequently, the court adjourned the hearing until July 29.
