The Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, at the National Assembly Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar has offered scholarship to one thousand seven hundred Zamfara indigenes.
The Beneficiaries Include orphans and vulnerable Children among others.
The move is part of the former Zamfara governor to encourage and support the development of education in the State.
At a press conference held in Gusau the capital city of Zamfara State, chairman of the A. A Yari Scholarship Initiative, Sen. Tijjani Yahaya Kaura said the senator deemed it fit to support children of the poor, orphans and the vulnerable to further their education.
Tijjani Kaura however said to ensure smooth and hitch free running of the project, the red chamber lawmaker has carefully selected persons with proven integrity to head the project.
The scholarship will be awarded to one thousand seven hundred (1,700) indigent and orphan across the State, who have gained admission or have the requirements for admission into various public universities and tertiary institutions to study courses of their choice, preferably within Zamfara and neighbouring States to make earlier
“Senator Yari has unveiled his intention to award scholarship to Zamfara State youths, as part of his contribution to educational development in the state” Kaura Said.
“The prospective beneficiaries will be drawn from the fourteen (14) Local Govt Areas of the State.
The six (6) Local Govts Areas of Zamfara West, which Sen. A. A. Yari represents in the senate, comprising Talata Mafara, Maradun, Anka, Bakura, Gummi and Bukkuyum will have 150 beneficiaries each, whilst the remaining nine (9) Local Govt Arears will have 100 beneficiaries each” He added.
The Committee Members are Sen. Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, MFR (Tafidan K/Namoda) Chairman, Hon. Barr. Muhammad Sani Takori, Prof. Adam’s driving, Dr Aminu Muhammad Lawal Tsafe, Dr Abdullahi Maharazu, Dr Mansur Muhammad Bello and Hon. Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidangoga.
Others are Hon. Abubakar Aliyu Danmadami Maradun, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad Danmadami B/Successor, Hon. Engr Babangida Abdullahi, Hon. Umaru Jibo Bukuyum, Hon. Sanusi Liman and Alhaji and Yusuf Abubakar Mafara as members while Prof. Sha’aya Shehu Mafara is to serve as Secretary.

The scholarship according to the committee will commence from 2024/2025 Academic Session.
“The scholarship will start from 2024/2025 Academic Session and will be sustained for the entire period of 4, 5 or 6 years of the Degree program, depending on individual’s course of study” Sen. Kaura Maintained.
“Once the first batch is awarded, there will be no further award until after their graduation, or as the case may be and it will be a fully funded scholarship, covering the following Tuition Fee, Accommodation, Learning materials, Monthly stipend/upkeep allowance among other things.
Senator Yahaya Kaura further said there will be local government coordinators of the initiative to ensure full implementation.
The Local Govt Coordinators are to represent the committee in the selection and/or screening of beneficiaries at their various local council.
It would be recalled the Senator Abdul’aziz Yari had during a gathering at His Talata Mafara Residence during the Eid el-Fitr Sallah promised to award scholarship to Zamfara youths willing to further their education.
To the people of Zamfara, this initiative is a dream come true.
