A two day North-West security summit has opened in Katsina to evolve new ways of ending security challenges in the region.
In the last one decade and a half States of the region have suffered the full brunt of banditry and kidnapping.
A factor that has reduced the region to Socio-Economic problems and led to a major destabilization of activities over the years.
TVC News’s Abdullatif Yusuf reports that the gathering included a large number of the northern heavyweights once again to review the security situation of the North West regions.
This is also a response to the growing concern and resurgence of banditry and kidnapping in Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara States among others.
The event is being attended by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Seven Governors of the region, Security Chiefs and the Sultan of Sokoto and Emirs from the 7 States.
The UNDP and many groups of diplomatic corps are also attending the northwest peace and security summit to provide technical support to overcome the twin evil of banditry and kidnapping.
The objective of the summit is to once a gain provide a ground for broader discussions on the matter with a view of galvanizing massive action from the affected states to propel common solutions.
This will now end the lack of coordination between the key actors and the state affected.
