Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori says the Supreme Court Judgment granting local government financial autonomy has relieved the burden on State Government who over the years augment for them.
The Governor who stated this during the swearing in of the 25 newly elected local council chairmen and vice, urges them run an inclusive government and boost the IGR to enable them address their challenges.
The Event Centre is venue for the Swearing-in Ceremony as supporters of the chairmen converged here in their numbers.
The arrival of Governor Oborevwori begins the ceremony as the Vice Chairmen with 22 female took their oath of office.
Then the Chairmen also committed to the swearing in by the Governor.
For the past three months the Heads Personnel Management have been running the 25 Local councils to allow for the election and today as these chairmen resume office, the governor has cheery news and advice.
The Governor also advises them on running inclusive governance and aligning themselves with his four point agenda.
With the Supreme Court granting of the autonomy for the third tier of government all eyes are now on these chairmen to prove themselves.
Recall that the PDP won the chairmanship election in all 25 local government areas and 499 councillorship seats with APM getting one seat in Saturday elections.
