Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has stated that although the Federal Government may have more resources, it is not constitutionally superior to states.
The Governor made this known during an emergency meeting with members of the State Advisory Committee.
Reacting to the Supreme Court judgment on local government autonomy, Governor Makinde described the development as a distraction from the major issues that need to be addressed in the state.
He emphasized that regardless of the judgment, the state can navigate through the situation without relying on the Federal Government to run its affairs.
The meeting concluded with the establishment of legal and technical committees tasked with reviewing the judgment and examining potential issues that may arise.
