The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has announced that a newly completed two-storey building at 12, Cameroon Street, off Ewenla, Mushin, suddenly collapsed on an adjoining bungalow as a result of sub-standard materials used in the construction.
The impact of the collapsed building according to the DG of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, affected seven adults, three adult females, and 4 adult males.
According to him the “Casualties: Four adult males and three adult females were trapped but rescued and taken to Isolo General hospital for medical attention”.
He added that the collapsed building has been marked for structural and integrity testing by Lagos State Building Control Agency and Lagos State Material Testing Laboratory.
He disclosed that Responders to the incident include LASEMA’s response team alongside LRU Fire unit, LASBCA, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASAMBUS, LNSC, FRSC and NPF.
