Regular training of personnel in marksmanship principles and proficiency in handling weapons professionally will minimise collateral damage even as the military grapples with insecurity.
For the Nigerian Navy Ship Soroh, it has commenced a three-day light shooting exercise and classification.
Organised to improve personnel proficiency in handling weapons professionally, the Range Classification exercise involves the firing of AK 47 rifles, Tavern rifles, GPNG, and pistols at different distances by lying down, kneeling, and standing positions
Representing the Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Nnamdi Ekwom, also wants personnel to have a firm grip of safety procedures in handling weapons including reclassification of weapons to determine the status where maintenance and repairs are required
The three day exercise once completed would put credence on the skill set of the personnel.
High standards of marksmanship and safety are required from participants as the command aims to achieve improved skills of marksmanship
