Zonal Coordinator of the National Centre for the Control of Small arms and light weapons, ( NCCSALW) Air Vice Marshal Haruna Umar Rtd said the combined efforts of security agencies has led to the recovery of over twenty thousands assorted small arms and light weapons in Nigeria in the last two years.
He stated this in Sokoto when he led other officials of the north west zonal office of the center to engage with stakeholders and the general public in Sokoto on how best to mop up Small Arms and Light weapons in the hands of none state actor .
He said the insecurity in the country is fueled by the availability of these small arms and light weapons and if any meaningful result will be achieved in the fight against terrorism and banditry, effort must be focused on mopping up these weapons in the hands of none state actors.
