The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Ogun State has provided a clarification regarding the road traffic accident that took place opposite the NYSC Ogun Permanent Orientation Camp gate on Ikenne Road in Sagamu, Ogun State.
In a statement released to journalists, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Nasamu Olayinka said following a comprehensive investigation by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State, it has been confirmed that the NYSC has been absolved of any responsibility in the incident.
She said: “The Student Union President, Rector, and Dean of Student Affairs of Gateway Polytechnic have acknowledged the mistake and have formally apologized for the wrongful accusations made against the NYSC.
“They have committed to issuing a public rejoinder to address and correct the damaging story circulating in the media Furthermore, the student body of Gateway Polytechnic has distanced itself from the group responsible for staging the protest at the Ogun State Police Headquarters yesterday morning.”
She extended her condolences to the families of the victims, the Student Union Government (SUG) and the entire Gateway Polytechnic community on behalf of the NYSC.
