The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has stressed the need to encourage youths to see agriculture as a sustainable money-spinning venture.
Governor Aiyedatiwa spoke during an interaction with a group of Sunshine Youths Agriculture Association and women in agriculture in Akure, the state capital.
Farmers converged on the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Akure, Ondo State capital.
They converged to deliberate on ways to make agriculture more attractive to youths, through the use of technology.
In his speech, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said youths in the state must change their mindset and be passionate about agribusiness, to boost revenue and food production.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his Deputy, Olayide Adelami added that his administration will continue to support initiatives geared towards making the state the food basket of the nation.
He said the state is not only fighting hunger through distribution of food items, but consistent in its efforts to ensure food security in all the 18 local government areas of the state.
The Chairman of Ondo State Food Security Committee, Rotimi Akinsola said the state government will continue to support farmers, by implementing friendly policies and providing farm inputs for increased food production.
It was an interactive session, where major stakeholders in the agriculture sector agreed that all hands must be on deck to encourage youths to embrace agribusiness, through technology.
