The Zamfara State Police command Police says it has killed bandits while repelling attack on two communities in Gusau, the state capital.
The police also confirmed the abduction of seven persons over the weekend in Damba and a new settlement behind Karma Hotel along Gusau – Sokoto express way
Among those abducted is Pastor Isa Andrew, the Chaplain of All Saints Police Protestant Church, Mopol 42 Mobile Base, Gusau and his Teenage Daughter
They were abducted by a group of armed men at their residence behind Karma Hotel at about One o’clock Monday morning
The Zamfara Police Commissioner Mohammed Dalijan who spoke in Hausa confirmed the development while speaking at a stakeholders meeting held at the Police Command Headquarters, in Gusau
He says fifty three patrol vehicles have been deployed to man streets in Gusau as the police is determined to address the lingering security challenges affecting the state
CP Dalijan adds that security operatives are on the trail of the kidnappers to get the victims rescued unhurt
This is the second time in less than a month Christian clergies were abducted by gunmen
This latest abduction is coming barely eight days after the parish priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church Damba, Reverend Father Mikah Suleiman was released by his abductors after sixteen days in Captivity
The Zamfara Police Commissioner further enjoins residents to always assist the force with useful information to clamp down on enemies of peace.
