An Mi-28 military helicopter crashed in a remote area of southern Russia on Thursday, killing the crew, according to two Russian news sources.
According to a local official, the Mi-28 helicopter crashed during a routine flight in a remote area some 150 kilometers (93 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
The helicopter went down in a forested area near the village of Klenki, within the Zhizdrinsky District, approximately 150 kilometres (93 miles) from the Ukrainian border. Head of the Zhizdrinsky District Alexander Barybin stated,

“According to preliminary information, a technical malfunction caused the disaster,” the Interfax news agency said, citing a defence ministry statement.
