Governors of IMO, Abia , Ebonyi, Anambra and Host Enugu states are currently meeting in Enugu to discuss issues of economy, Security and how to improve social welfare of the region.
The governors, who constitute the regional South-East Governors’ Forum, are Alex Otti (Abia), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo (Anambra), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Dr Peter Mbah (Enugu) and Senator Hope Uzodimma (Imo).
This is the second meeting since May 29th 2023 Inauguration for four out of the five Governors having Governor Hope Uzodinma of IMO as the Chairman and Senator Uche Ekwunife as the Director General of the Governors Forum, with the hope to evolve new strategies to improve the general wellbeing of the people.
Recently, bigger umbrella that comprised Southern Governors’ Forum, the umbrella body for 17 governors from the three geo-political zones of South-West, South-East and South-South met in Abeokuta, Ogun state, where they planned to pull resources to generating 90,000 MW of electricity to cater for the power needs of 90 million residents of the region and plans to take advantage of recent constitutional amendment that allows states to regulate, generate, transmit and distribute electricity whilst also considering renewable sources of energy to bring the dream to reality.
