The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria have threatened to clamp down on unlicensed project managers overseeing projects in Nigeria.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, the Registrar of the institute says it’s enforcement will commence in the first quarter of 2025.
Abandoned projects in Nigeria according to CI stands at over N17 Trillion Naira today.
Research has shown that the main causes of abandoned projects in
Nigeria are a Lack of Articulated Vision and objects, Lack of proper project planning from the onset.
The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria believes this is as a results of lack of experts with proper management knowledge handling the projects.
To curtail the trend, it is set to weild the big stick on any member practising project management in Nigeria without the CIPMN license and every institution encouraging its members to ignore the law establishing CIPMN in Nigeria.
It also called on all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of Government to take this seriously.
