The federal government government has declared its resolve to face environmental challenges head-on with creativity, innovation and perseverance.
Secretary to the Government of Federal, Senator George Akume disclosed this at inauguration of an erosion control drainage in Patigi, Kwara State.
Flooding has remained a constant nightmare for the people of Patigi in Kwara state. It does not only render some of them homeless, it also destroys their farmlands and in many cases claim lives.
The devastating effect of the erosion occasioned by constant flooding made the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) to embark on the construction of this erosion
control drainage in August 2022.

control drainage
The erosion and flood control drainage system consists of two sections spanning 0.75 kilometres with culverts.
It also has 0.325 kilometres of drains from various locations, designed to salvage the surrounding land by channeling runoff to the river.
