The Nigerian gospel music industry is mourning the loss of Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold, who passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024.
The news of Aduke Gold’s death was announced by her colleague, Esther Igbekele, on Instagram.
Esther posted a tribute with Aduke Gold’s picture and the caption: “A general has fallen. RIP.”
She was said to have died at the University College Hospital, UCH, after battling an undisclosed ailment.
Aduke Gold had made a significant impact in the gospel music industry with her soul-lifting songs. Her breakthrough single, “Nitori Ogo” (translated as “Because of Glory”), gained viral praise on social media.
Aduke Gold’s death comes barely six months after the death of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who died on April 28, 2024.
