Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has expressed his admiration for the Nigerian military’s unwavering commitment to combating banditry in the state, particularly in the southern region.
He commended the military’s unrelenting resolve, which has led to the swift restoration of peace in previously troubled areas, where banditry, destruction of farmlands, and loss of lives were prevalent.
During a courtesy visit by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Sokoto, and Commander Joint Task Force, NorthWest Operation Hadarin Daji, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris acknowledged the military’s crucial role in bringing peace back to the state.
He noted that upon assuming office, farmers had abandoned their farms, and people had deserted their towns and villages due to insecurity.
However, through collaborative efforts with security agencies and the military’s tenacity, peace has been restored, and farmers have returned to their farm.
Governor Idris expressed his gratitude to the military and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state.
Brigadier General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, in his remarks, appreciated the Governor’s support, including the provision of patrol vehicles, medical care for casualties, and other essential assistance.
He also commended the Governor’s developmental projects in the state.
