The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has hailed Federal Government’s efforts to promote the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), as an alternative fuel source for vehicles.
The General Secretary, Comrade Kayode Agbeyangi, praised the government’s initiatives, contradicting a misleading newspaper report headlined: “FG fails to fulfil its promise on CNG vehicles”, attributed to a faceless individual, Segun Falade, who falsely claimed to represent the union.
Agbeyangi said Falade is unknown to the union and has not been authorised to speak on its behalf.
He challenged anyone in doubt to verify the records at the NURTW headquarters.
Agbeyangi confirmed that the CNG initiatives are ongoing, with successful launching in Kaduna, Lagos and Abuja, covering the Northwest, Southwest and North Central zones.
Free CNG conversion kits were distributed to transport operators, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to convert over one million vehicles at no cost.
