Governor of CrossRiver State , Bassey Otu, has expressed his deepest condolences to the victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The overflow of the Alau Dam has left the city underwater, resulting in loss of lives, displacement of hundreds of thousands, and a dire need for assistance.
The Governor empathized with the affected families and communities, understanding the pain and trauma caused by this disaster.
According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary Nsa Gill, the Governor, committed to providing support, recognising the importance of unity in times of crisis.
The Governor applauded the Federal Government’s prompt response and urged the Borno State government to join forces in implementing long-term strategies to prevent future disasters.
Governor Otu highlighted the importance of proactive preparedness and risk reduction in mitigating natural disasters.
The Governor also called for donations and support to aid in the reconstruction of affected communities and restore hope to those affected.
He is confident in the tenacity of the people of Borno State and believes that with dedication and national support, they can overcome this adversity and emerge stronger.
