Imo State police on Sunday successfully repelled an attack on the Njaba Divisional Headquarters by hoodlums suspected of belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra.
According to the Command’s public relations officer, Henry Okoye, the attackers arrived in three SUVs and launched a ferocious assault on the headquarters using intermittent gunfire.
In response, the operatives quickly assumed defensive positions and engaged the assailants, thereby killing three members of the gang.
Mr. Okoye stated that the surviving assailants, who suffered various gunshot wounds withdrew into nearby bushes.
Three vehicles—a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza—as well as one General Purpose Machine Gun and one AK-47 rifle were recovered by the police during the operation.
Okoye noted that an intense operation, led by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command Aboki Danjuma is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The ongoing efforts aim to capture those responsible and ensure justice is served.
