A member of the House of Representatives, representing Ibarapa East/Ido Constituency, Oseni Abbas, has appealed to his fellow lawmakers to initiate homegrown solutions targeted towards addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges and easing the current hardships.
The lawmaker made the call during an empowerment programme in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Mr. Oseni, presented the equipment including grinders, generators worth N100 million to different members of the association.
He also launched a N50million cash for the establishment of a Cooperative Society for members of the association among other things.
The lawmaker said the donations were borne out of his zeal to ease the sufferings of the people of Oyo state as a result of high poverty rates.
He added that the move aligns with the federal government’s efforts to bring development nationwide, which includes road repairs and maintenance.
The equipment were distributed to artisans like blacksmiths, welders, iron benders and metal technicians, to enhance their skills and help them navigate through the current economic situation.
Beneficiaries are expressed gratitude for the gesture saying it would help them retain their jobs and improve their individual skills.
The event’s highlight was the presentation of an award by the Blacksmith, Welder, Iron Benders and Metal Technicians Association of Nigeria executives, recognizing his contributions the state’s development.
