Men of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command have intercepted Cannabis Sativa and Tramadol worth 117 million Naira from border areas across the state.
This was made known by the Area Comptroller, James Ojo, while handing over the contrabands to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Abeokuta.
It was a successful operation for men of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command, as they foiled the trafficking of cannabis sativa popularly known as marijuana and other illegal drugs.
The Customs said the successful operation has assisted the government in its fight against movement and importation of illegal substances with negative effects on the youth of the country.
The Comptroller of the Command, James Ojo said a total of 403 sacks, more than 6500 parcels of Cannabis Sativa and 362 packs of Tramakin tablets were seized at the Agbawo/Iganokoto area of Yewa North Local Government Area, and Imeko Afon axis.
The Comptroller Commended the officers of the Command for their vigilance and courage.
He warned those who engage in illicit trade, drug trafficking and other smuggling activities to desist.
While receiving the seized drugs, the Commander of NDLEA, Idiroko Special Command, Olusegun Adeyeye commended men of the Nigeria Customs Service, OGUN 1 Area command for their efforts and contributions in the fight against drug trafficking.
He confirmed that the seizure was a confirmation of a good working relationship with sister security agencies, especially the Nigerian Customs Service and called on Nigerians to continue to support them in order to reduce drug abuse in the country.
