Former member of the House of representatives who represented Anka/Talata Mafara federal constituency in the 9th Assembly, Kabiru Yahayya Classic has dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and joined the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Others who defected alongside the former lawmaker includes chairman of the PDP in Talata Mafara local government area Mahe Shehu, his executive members and ten out of the eleven ward chairmen.
The defectors were received by the APC Chairman in Zamfara state, Tukur Danfulani, Chairman Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Political Organization, Lawal M. Liman, former speaker of the Zamfara state House of Assembly,Nasiru Magarya among other stakeholders at a brief ceremony in Kaduna.
Kabiru Yahayya Classic represented Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency at the 9th National Assembly between 2019 and 2023 under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party.
They cited unfair treatment, injustice and lack of structure in the party as reasons for their defection.
“I wish to announce my defection and that of my followers from the PDP to the Progressive Party, the APC. Hon. Kabiru said.
“I am defecting with all PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area including the Local Government EXCOs, 10 out of 11 Ward Chairmen of the PDP and others” He said
“Classic described the APC as great party which treat it’s members with fairness and just.
On his part, the Zamfara State APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani described Classic defection as a welcome development which will add value to the APC at all levels
“We are happy to receive our brother and his people to our great party and this is a great development” Danfulani.
“More defectors from the PDP led Government in Zamfara will soon join the APC” He assures.
Mr. Danfulani assures the former federal lawmaker and his team of fair and equal treatment, adding that the APC has a great structure with good internal democracy”, Danfulani explained.
Also speaking, the Chairman Sen Yari’s Political Organization, Lawal M Liman commended Kabiru Classic and other defectors for joining the progressive team.
Liman described the APC as the only party with manifesto that deal with human feelings and also which moves Zamfara and Nigeria forward.

Others are former Secretary to Zamfara State government Kabiru Balarabe, Former Commissioners, Local government Sole Administrators, Special advisers among others.
