Education remains the key to successful reintegration to society especially for incarcerated children found to be in conflict with the law.
This formed the rationale for the donation of a Digital Interactive Board to boost learning at the Special Correctional Center for Boys, Oregun, Lagos.
The Special Correctional Centre for Boys, Oregun houses about 150 juveniles from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds with a view to isolating not just young offenders or underaged persons being tried for various crimes but includes those who are wayward or homeless.
The Lagos state government provides formal and informal education at the centre as a way of rehabilitation but admits that it cannot do it alone.
The Inmates instructional Foundation and its partners have finally handed over the instructional Digital Interactive Board to the wards.
Because of its interactive capabilities and visual displays, this smart board may serve as a valuable learning tool for instructors and students in elementary and secondary schools.
Stakeholders believe that by using such technologies, students’ potential will be unleashed, and they will grow into empowered and productive members of society.
