Parents as well as the society in general have been advised to be at the forefront of empowering boys with the right skills needed to become wholesome men.
They noted that if this is done, it will further cascade into the society.
The African charter on the rights of the child defines a child as anyone below 18, hence the BOY-CHILD is a male offspring below the age of 18 years.
Unlike the boy-child, the girl-child has received massive campaign for her rights and protection, with increasing mainstream attention in public health care.
While several initiatives to protect the female gender have continued to emerge, those for the male are sparse.
One of such initiatives is the Boys Quarters Africa.
This initiative aims to address issues affecting the boy-child as they believe it sets the foundation for unbalanced male adults.
The group has also been at the forefront of advocating for boys’ empowerment, leadership development, and gender equity—ensuring that no boy is left behind in the conversation on social transformation.
In an effort to improve on their advocacy for the boy-child, the group released its 5 year impact report, showcasing it’s profound influence in empowering young men across the continent.
