The Federal Ministry of Education said an official investigation is underway into charges against a male teacher, Mr. Jatti, at the Federal Government Girl’s College FGGC in Benin City.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the situation in question is not one of sexual harassment, but rather of high headedness in classroom management that was misrepresented following a comprehensive review.
An investigation panel earlier set up by the school has already submitted its reports.
The Preliminary findings indicate that Mr Jatti was on prep supervision duty at the time of incident and was responding to a rowdy classroom situation.
Concurrently, the Principal has been summoned to the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja for additional clarification.
The statement went on to say that an inquiry is underway into the claims and that the public should be patient until the final investigation is completed, which will be released in due time.
The ministry of education says it is still committed to transparency and the integrity of educational institutions around the country.
